This was my own personal project. My wife asked for custom kitchen countertops made from walnut, so, out with the Mid-90's Plastic laminate countertop in with new Walnut Countertops. Compete with matching floating corner shelf and outlet covers. Counter tops have a hand shaped front edge for a truly one of a kind look and feel. Shelf has a slight under-bevel to give a sleek look while allowing for smoother access to items on the countertop and protecting your knuckles. Finished with Rubio Monocoat and satin topcoat.
This larger than life Walnut table was built from a single tree harvested from the customers property.
Measuring a massive Nine Feet long and almost four feet wide, this table is sure to impress guests with its massive bookmatched top with lots of character.
Finished with a hand rubbed hardwax oil and satin top coat and set on traditional styled trestle base.
What started as a Walnut Slab Table continued on to a complete kitchen update. We added Hardwood plank walls, solid walnut countertops with white farmhouse sink, Walnut floating shelves, wood outlet/switch covers and to complete the look, corrugated tin panels on the ends of the original cabinets. In addition we created a custom archway trim to give it the ultimate in mountain lodge look.
This project gave a simple 90's kitchen a much larger and warmer rustic feel.

This gorgeous piece was made using two massive walnut slabs that were locally sourced here in northern indiana. Complete with matching bench seating from the same two slabs. Finished with Rubio Monocoat and set on stylish steel legs.
I offer this as pre-finished or raw planks. The above was done as a "ship-lap, no-lap" type planks, meaning that no lap joints or tongue and groove joints are used. True ship lap is, of course, available on request. There were several species of wood in this example including: Red Oak, White Oak, Hickory, Cherry, Walnut, Ash, and Maple. These tend be selected from the more rustic boards to give the ultimate in both rustic look and individuality. If you have a certain look you want, I can most likely accommodate that.
The example shown above was pre-finished in my shop to customer specifications.
As with all of my products, I make these from a mix of Indiana native hardwoods that are kiln dried to insure stability and to remove any pests that may be present at the time of milling.
These packages can be applied to almost any wall substrate from bare studs to sheet rock.

The desk and Barn door are both commissioned items that were built to my clients specifications. The client needed a new standing height desk for their boarding kennel reception office. They wanted a rustic industrial look but wasn't sure about how to pull it off. The client also needed a custom stool to match. They trusted me make their custom made wood furniture ideas to come to life.
In discussing the project with the client, I came up with a design that the customer liked and work began. They had special requests to have a drawer, metal legs, casters and a dark finish. We chose Red oak for the material, and a dark walnut stain with black metal trim. Aside from the drawer hardware and custom in house designed legs, all the desk trim and stool base were built in house.
Upon delivery of the desk and stool, they were so impressed with the craftsmanship, that they requested a matching Barn door to close off the storage area at the back of the office space.
The barn door had to match the desk in color and style. The project was not without its own challenges. The doorway was very large at 54 inches x 96 inches and had no proper header. Only some basic framing to hold the plywood wall panel. The size and material made for a very heavy door which required me to build a proper support header and trim that out in oak. Also the hardware needed to be able to handle the weight and look good doing it. I choose American made hardware from Realcraft and it glides like its on air.
The door itself is made from solid red oak, has mortise and tenon glue joints. Each individual board was planed and chamfered on the edges to give a beaded look. then was stained and varnished to match the desk. Other than the sliding track, all the other hardware, including the hande were made in house.
